The Osun governor urges Nigerians to give the President more time to implement his economic reforms and pledges to mobilise support for a second term.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that four years in office would not be enough for the administration’s reforms to deliver their intended results.
Adeleke made the declaration on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
“We must give our father, the President of this nation, time for his reform to work. It’s not easy. Four years is not enough,” the governor said.
He added that he had attended the event to demonstrate his support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Adeleke expresses confidence in Tinubu’s re-election
The governor also expressed confidence in the President’s prospects in the 2027 presidential election, urging supporters to begin mobilising voters.
“I can feel the victory coming in 2027. Nobody can stop this movement,” Adeleke was quoted as saying.
He called for greater political mobilisation, insisting that supporters needed to move beyond words and begin working towards securing Tinubu’s return to the Presidential Villa.
Adeleke also urged Nigerians to continue praying for the President, arguing that the success of his administration would benefit the country.
Cross-party support attracts attention
Adeleke’s endorsement has attracted attention because he governs Osun State under the Accord Party rather than the ruling APC.
A revised list of Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council named Adeleke as the coordinator of the President’s campaign in Osun State, highlighting the cross-party alliances emerging ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development illustrates how some political figures are supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid without formally belonging to the APC.
Adeleke’s argument that the President needs more time reflects his political assessment of the administration’s reform programme. Whether the reforms will deliver the desired outcomes, and whether voters will support a second term, remain questions for the electorate.
The 2027 presidential election is expected to test public opinion on the administration’s economic policies, governance record and promises for the country’s future.
