The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians to move away from the politics of entitlement and embrace a system of governance built on responsibility, fairness and accountability.

Wike made the call on Thursday while delivering the keynote address at the maiden Idoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony, organised in collaboration with Ochetoha K’Idoma as part of the Idoma Centenary Plus celebration.

His address, titled “People, Politics and Power Play in Nigeria: The Agitation for Equity and Fairness,” focused on the relationship between political authority, public responsibility and the demand for equitable representation.

The minister argued that political power should be regarded as a public trust rather than personal property or an entitlement reserved for particular individuals or groups.

He stressed the importance of responsible leadership and urged political actors to prioritise public service over personal interests.

The event also provided an opportunity to recognise individuals whose contributions have helped shape the Idoma community and preserve its cultural heritage.

Wike’s remarks come amid ongoing national discussions about political inclusion, equitable representation and accountability in public office.
