United Nigeria Airlines on Monday handed over social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and entertainer Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, to airport security after both men became involved in a confrontation while boarding a scheduled flight from Asaba to Lagos. The incident occurred during the boarding process for Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport, prompting the airline’s crew to intervene. According to a statement released on the airline’s official X account, staff acted swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating and made the decision to deboard both passengers in line with standard safety procedures.

United Nigeria Airlines explained that the crew responded immediately and professionally in accordance with global aviation safety requirements. The carrier said the two men were removed from the aircraft to protect the safety and comfort of other passengers and crew members. They were subsequently handed over to airport security for further investigation, while the flight departed after all necessary checks were completed.

The airline reaffirmed its strict safety policies, stressing that it maintains a zero-tolerance approach to any behavior that could jeopardize the well-being of passengers or crew. It also reassured the traveling public of its commitment to providing safe and secure air travel across its network.

Although the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, the confrontation follows several weeks of online tension between the two men. Both personalities have been engaged in a public exchange on social media, drawing significant attention and sparking heated reactions among their followers.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report, as calls and messages to the agency went unanswered.
