The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the violent attack on popular Fuji musician Obesere and his entourage in Okitipupa town.
The incident occurred on Friday after Obesere performed at a burial ceremony, sparking chaos and prompting swift action from local authorities.
Soga Andrew Ogunsakin, chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, condemned the attack in a statement shared on his official Facebook page. He confirmed the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of some of the musician’s stolen belongings.
“Upon receiving reports of the attack, I immediately acted to ensure accountability and restore calm. Three suspects have been detained, and efforts are ongoing to track down others involved. Some stolen items have also been recovered,” Ogunsakin said.
He added that a meeting has been scheduled with Obesere’s management to formally express concern over the incident and discuss steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
