Residents of Maikujera and Gidan Boy communities in Sokoto State have killed two suspected bandits and recovered livestock that had been stolen earlier in the week. The incident occurred on Friday after the armed group had rustled cattle from Kabunga village in Kware Local Government Area and were heading toward Bakura town in neighbouring Zamfara State.
According to reports, youths from the two communities confronted the bandits, engaging them in a fierce gun battle. The clash resulted in the deaths of two criminals, while several others escaped with gunshot injuries. The villagers successfully retrieved cattle, rams, and camels taken during the raid.
The recovered animals were handed over to the Chairman of Rabah Local Government Area for verification and eventual return to their rightful owners in Kabunga. Attempts to reach the local government chairman for comment were unsuccessful.
