The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has cautioned corps members against travelling without official approval, stressing that unauthorised journeys can expose them to unnecessary risks during their service year. The warning came during his address to the 2025 Batch ‘C’ corps members at the Orientation Camp in Edo State.

In a statement issued by NYSC spokesperson Gbenga Fanegane, Brig. Gen. Nafiu urged members to prioritise personal safety by remaining vigilant at their places of primary assignment and avoiding night travel. He also highlighted the importance of responsible behaviour on social media, advising corps members to verify information before sharing it online to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Beyond online conduct, the DG emphasised that corps members should steer clear of harmful social vices, including cultism, cybercrime, and thuggery, which could jeopardise their safety and well-being.

Brig. Gen. Nafiu’s directives underscore the Service’s commitment to the welfare and security of its members, encouraging them to adopt safe practices throughout their year of national service.
