The Adamawa State Police Command has opened an investigation following the death of a 27-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus, identified as Ojajuni Ayo, from Ondo State.

In a statement released on Sunday, the command said it received a distress report from the institution’s Chief Security Officer on December 7. According to the report, the student, Ojajuni Ayomiposi, returned to campus around 11:30am on December 6 in a tricycle and appeared visibly unwell before entering the hostel area. He was later found unconscious and vomiting by a security guard.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel admitted him. He was, however, confirmed dead while undergoing treatment. His body has been placed in the hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.

While police have not yet disclosed an official cause of death, unverified claims circulating within the institution allege that the student had recently faced disciplinary issues and was informed he would not be allowed to participate in the Bar Final examinations, which commenced the same day. The development was said to have left him deeply distressed.

Ojajuni was a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered a discreet and comprehensive inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
