The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has cautioned Nigerians against falling for a false social media post circulating on Facebook, which claims that the agency has commenced a new recruitment exercise.
In a statement released on its official X handle on Wednesday, the Service clarified that it is not currently conducting any recruitment. It noted that the only recent exercise was carried out by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB), and the results of that process have not yet been published.
“The public is advised to disregard such posts, avoid engaging with them, and report the pages immediately,” the NIS said, warning citizens to remain vigilant against online scams.
The agency reiterated that all legitimate recruitment announcements will be issued strictly through its verified communication channels. It stressed its commitment to ensuring transparency in all official hiring processes.
As the body responsible for border management, visa processing, and immigration law enforcement, the NIS urged Nigerians to rely only on credible sources for information to avoid being misled by fraudulent actors.
