Adamu Baikie, celebrated as Northern Nigeria’s first professor of education, has died at the age of 94. He passed away on Friday evening at his home in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Professor Baikie was a distinguished scholar, educationist, and university administrator, renowned for shaping higher education in Northern Nigeria. Throughout his career, he held leadership positions, including vice chancellor roles in multiple universities both in Nigeria and abroad, making significant contributions to education policy and administration.

His passing was confirmed on December 12 by his eldest son, Major Muhammad Adamu (retd), who told Daily Trust that Professor Baikie is survived by five children. Funeral prayers and burial arrangements will be communicated at a later date.
