A 25-year-old Brazilian social media influencer, Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva, has died following an incident at her apartment in São Paulo, with police alleging she was pushed from a 10th-floor balcony by her husband.
Authorities identified the suspect as Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, 40, who was arrested nine days after the incident on suspicion of femicide. The tragedy reportedly followed a domestic dispute between the couple.
Emergency responders who arrived at the scene found Bispo dos Santos holding his wife’s body at the base of the residential building. He initially told investigators that she had taken her own life. However, police say surveillance footage from the apartment complex raised serious doubts about that account.
According to investigators, CCTV recordings show signs of physical confrontation in the moments leading up to the incident, including altercations in the parking area and inside the building’s elevator. Police say the footage contradicts the suspect’s claims and formed part of the evidence that led to his arrest.
Gomes da Silva, who was originally from Ceará State, had relocated to São Paulo in search of better opportunities. She had built a growing online presence, sharing lifestyle content focused on beauty, travel, and wellness.
She is survived by a daughter from a previous relationship. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
