Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has ordered the immediate sacking of four aides following their alleged involvement in the assault of a sitting councillor.

The decision comes after investigations into the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area, were concluded.

In a statement, the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the directive was communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, after a special committee established by the state government submitted its findings.

The committee’s report, which incorporated intelligence from security agencies, formed the basis for the dismissals.

The four aides affected are Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).

Governor Yahaya ordered that the dismissals take immediate effect and instructed the former aides to return all government property in their possession to the relevant authorities.

Misilli added that the governor reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on violence, misconduct, and abuse of public office, emphasizing that such behavior would not be condoned.
