Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has confirmed his intention to contest the 2027 general election, ruling out any possibility of serving as a vice-presidential candidate.

Obi made the declaration on Sunday night during a live discussion on X Spaces, where he addressed supporters and shared his political plans ahead of the next election cycle.

The former Anambra State governor stated emphatically that his political journey and experience were not geared towards becoming a running mate, stressing that he is prepared to lead.

“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be vice-president,” Obi said. “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and I have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting president.”

He further confirmed that his name would appear on the ballot in 2027, appealing to Nigerians for support and prayers as he prepares for another presidential race.

Obi’s comments are expected to reignite political conversations ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly among his supporters, who played a significant role in his strong showing in the 2023 polls.
