World-renowned heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Monday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

The accident reportedly occurred near Danco Filling Station, shortly before the Sagamu Interchange, when the vehicle conveying the British-Nigerian boxer collided with a stationary truck along the busy highway.

Eyewitness accounts said emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. Two occupants of the vehicle were confirmed dead, while Joshua was said to have sustained minor injuries and was rescued and attended to promptly.

The incident caused temporary traffic disruption on the expressway as security operatives and rescue officials secured the area and commenced preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Joshua nor his management team had issued an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to provide further details following the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

The Lagos–Ibadan Expressway is one of Nigeria’s busiest highways and has been the site of several fatal accidents in recent years, often linked to broken-down heavy-duty vehicles and poor visibility.
