US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying the country would face devastating consequences if any attempt is made on his life, amid renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Trump made the remarks in an interview with NewNation’s Katie Pavlich, reacting to alleged threats aired on Iranian state television. The broadcast reportedly showed footage from the July 13, 2024, campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump survived an assassination attempt, accompanied by a message suggesting a future attack.

Responding to the development, Trump said the United States had already communicated its position to Tehran. He warned that any harm directed at him would trigger an overwhelming response against Iran as a state.

The president also criticised his predecessor, Joe Biden, accusing the former administration of failing to respond firmly to earlier threats against him and other former Trump officials. According to Trump, stronger action should have been taken when warnings first emerged.

Relations between the two countries have remained strained since the January 2020 killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani, an incident that continues to fuel hostility from Tehran toward figures associated with the Trump administration. Several former officials, including ex–National Security Adviser John Bolton, have previously been reported to be under alleged threat.

Trump’s comments come against the backdrop of ongoing unrest in Iran, where protests over economic hardship and governance have reportedly led to thousands of deaths. While Trump recently suggested that killings of protesters may have slowed, he said the United States was closely monitoring the situation and would respond forcefully if reports of further executions or violence were confirmed.

Asked whether military action against Iran remained an option, Trump said all possibilities were still under consideration, adding that warnings issued by the United States had previously influenced decisions taken by Iranian authorities.
