The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable for the 2025 bye-elections, unveiling nomination fees and key dates for aspirants across legislative positions.
In the newly released schedule signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, the cost of contesting a Senate seat has been pegged at N20 million, while aspirants eyeing the House of Representatives will need to pay N10 million.
According to the breakdown, Senate hopefuls will be charged N3 million for the Expression of Interest form and N17 million for the Nomination form. House of Representatives aspirants are expected to pay N1 million and N9 million for the same categories, respectively.
For the State House of Assembly races, the total fee stands at N2 million, which includes N500,000 for the Expression of Interest and N1.5 million for the Nomination form.
In an inclusive gesture, the party has waived the Nomination form fee for women and persons with disabilities, who are only required to pay for the Expression of Interest. Youths between the ages of 25 and 40 will receive a 50 percent discount on the Nomination form.
The forms will be available at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, specifically at the Directorate of Organisation, located on the second floor.
To be eligible to vote during the primaries, delegates must be up-to-date financial members, with a minimum of three months’ dues—amounting to N600—fully paid. Delegate forms will be sold at N5,000 each.
The electoral process kicks off with the official notice to state chapters on June 30, 2025. Party membership revalidation and register updates are slated to run from July 1 to July 5, coinciding with the period designated for the sale of forms.
Completed application forms and supporting documents must be submitted by July 7. Screening of aspirants is scheduled for July 10, while primaries are expected to be conducted between July 22 and July 26.
The party plans to release the official list of candidates by July 26. Campaigning is expected to begin the same day and will run until August 14, just ahead of the bye-elections on August 16.
Argungu assured party members that the APC is committed to conducting fair and credible primaries, in full compliance with electoral regulations. He also emphasized that only members listed on the party’s register and whose dues are current through July 2025 will be eligible to participate as voters or candidates.
