Super Eagles striker strikes off the bench to secure crucial Scottish Premiership victory
Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored a decisive late goal to hand Celtic F.C. a 2–1 victory over 10-man Hibernian F.C. in a tightly contested Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday.
The match, played at Easter Road, saw Celtic capitalize on their numerical advantage after Hibernian were reduced to 10 men early in the game following a red card to Jamie McGrath in the 21st minute.
Celtic took the lead just before halftime through Daizen Maeda, but the hosts responded almost immediately, with Joe Newell equalising in stoppage time of the first half.
With the game finely balanced in the second half, Iheanacho was introduced from the bench and made an immediate impact, scoring the winner in the 72nd minute—just minutes after coming on.
The goal proved decisive, securing all three points for Celtic and extending their strong run of form as they continue their push for the league title.
The victory moves Celtic level on points with league leaders Hearts, intensifying the Scottish Premiership title race with only a few matches remaining in the season.
With Iheanacho delivering again in a crucial moment, Celtic’s title ambitions remain firmly alive as the season approaches its decisive stage.
