Oyo governor linked to emerging PDP-APM political alliance ahead of 2027
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is reportedly expected to formally declare his presidential ambition on May 14 during a political rally scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
According to reports, the event tagged “Unity Mega Rally Ibadan 2026” is also expected to feature the unveiling of a political alliance involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), and other political actors aligned with the emerging coalition around the governor.
Sources familiar with the development said preparations for the rally have intensified amid ongoing political realignments within Oyo State and the wider South-West region. Political observers believe the move could signal a broader attempt to reposition opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
Although Governor Makinde has not officially confirmed his intention to contest the presidency, support groups and loyalists have continued to mount pressure on him to join the race.
The planned rally is expected to attract political stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters from different parts of the country as discussions around future political alliances continue to gather momentum.
