Controversial relationship therapist arraigned in Lagos over alleged false property deal.
Controversial social media influencer and self-acclaimed relationship therapist, Blessing CEO, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, over an alleged ₦36 million fraud case that has sparked widespread reactions online.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the influencer, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and alleged stealing. Prosecutors alleged that she fraudulently collected ₦36 million from a complainant under the guise of securing a luxury duplex in Lekki, Lagos.
During court proceedings, her counsel informed the court that the defendant had already refunded ₦24 million to the complainant and was seeking time to settle the outstanding balance. However, the prosecution maintained that the matter remained a criminal case involving the Federal Government.
Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges. The presiding judge subsequently ordered that she remain in EFCC custody pending the hearing of her bail application, while the matter was adjourned for further proceedings.
The development has triggered massive reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating celebrity influence, online lifestyles and the growing number of fraud-related allegations involving public figures. The case is expected to remain a major talking point in entertainment and legal circles in the coming weeks.
