The University of Ilorin has confirmed the death of its former Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, who died in Ilorin on Saturday.

Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has died at the age of 68.

The renowned veterinary medicine scholar and former university administrator reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday at his residence in Oloje Estate, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the University of Ilorin’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun.

According to the statement, the current Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, announced the passing of Professor Ambali, who served as the university’s 9th Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Ambali was widely known within academic circles for his contributions to veterinary medicine and university administration during his years in public service.

His passing marks another significant moment for the University of Ilorin community, where he previously occupied one of the institution’s highest administrative offices.

Further details regarding burial arrangements were not immediately disclosed at the time of the announcement.
