Defence Minister Bello Matawalle says President Bola Tinubu remains politically dominant across the North-West ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains politically strong across Northern Nigeria and is positioned to secure an even larger share of votes from the region in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued by Ahmad Dan-Wudil, Personal Assistant on Media to the Minister of State for Defence, Matawalle said Tinubu continues to enjoy broad support across the North-West and deserves more backing from the North than other presidential aspirants.

According to the minister, opposition groups in parts of the North-West have continued spreading what he described as false narratives and exaggerated security concerns in an attempt to undermine the administration.

The comments come amid increasing political conversations surrounding the 2027 general election, with parties and political blocs gradually consolidating support across different regions.

Matawalle also maintained that the Tinubu administration remains focused on governance, national security, and economic reforms despite growing political criticism.
