Operation Hadin Kai troops freed 47 captives during an operation in Kangarwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have rescued 47 persons, mostly women and children, from captivity in an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclave located in Kangarwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Military authorities said the operation resulted in the successful extraction of the captives from the insurgents’ hideout following sustained operational activities in the area.

The rescue highlights the continued efforts by security forces operating in the North-East to weaken insurgent networks while securing the release of civilians held against their will.

According to military officials, the rescued persons are receiving medical attention at a secure location and are being provided humanitarian assistance ahead of their reintegration.

The military said operations against terrorist groups in the region remain ongoing.
