Northern groups have urged the Federal Government to address tensions arising from reported remarks linked to Sunday Igboho.

The Arewa Consultative Forum and the Northern Elders Forum have warned that Nigeria risks heightened tension if authorities fail to address concerns surrounding reported remarks by Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The warning follows reports that Igboho issued an ultimatum to Fulani leaders in parts of Oyo State after the abduction of a pregnant woman and members of her family.

According to the groups, developments capable of inflaming ethnic or regional tensions require careful handling to preserve national stability and public order.

The intervention places renewed focus on security concerns in affected communities and the responsibilities of government institutions in maintaining law and order.

The Federal Government had not publicly announced any new action on the matter at the time of reporting.
