President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the nomination of Professor Abayomi Fashina to the Senate for confirmation as a non-career ambassador/high commissioner-designate.
ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has submitted the name of Professor Abayomi Sunday Fashina to the Senate for confirmation as a non-career ambassador/high commissioner-designate, marking another addition to Nigeria’s diplomatic corps.
The nomination was formally communicated to the Senate through a letter from the President and announced during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Professor Fashina’s nomination represents the latest ambassadorial appointment made by the Tinubu administration as efforts continue to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic representation abroad.
The development follows a series of ambassadorial appointments and nominations transmitted to the National Assembly for legislative confirmation. The confirmation process now rests with the Senate, which is expected to consider the nomination in line with constitutional procedures.
For now, Professor Fashina’s appointment remains subject to Senate approval.
