Vice President Kashim Shettima says the Federal Government remains committed to creating opportunities for young Nigerians through skills acquisition, innovation and empowerment programmes.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating enabling opportunities for Nigerian youths through skills acquisition and empowerment programmes. He gave the assurance while unveiling the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Community Empowerment Initiative in Science, Technology, Skills Acquisition and Renewable Energy for youths and women in Kano State.

Represented by his Personal Assistant on Sub-national Infrastructure, Musaddiq Adamu, the Vice President said the initiative is designed to create opportunities for young Nigerians through practical skills development. He explained that the programme aligns with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places emphasis on youth empowerment, innovation and economic growth.

According to him, the initiative will be replicated across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, providing more young people with opportunities to acquire practical skills capable of improving livelihoods and creating employment.

Shettima noted that Nigerian youths continue to make meaningful contributions to national development and require the right platforms to realise their potential. He described the empowerment initiative as an investment in human capital, aimed at equipping beneficiaries with practical knowledge that can support entrepreneurship and job creation.

The Vice President urged beneficiaries to take advantage of the training and apply the skills acquired to establish businesses and create jobs. He also commended NASENI Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Halilu, for repositioning the agency through practical interventions focused on technology, innovation and human capital development.

Earlier, Halilu said the programme was designed to equip youths and women with relevant skills capable of strengthening local economies and expanding employment opportunities across the country.

The Federal Government said the NASENI Community Empowerment Initiative forms part of its broader strategy to expand skills acquisition, innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities for young Nigerians, with similar programmes expected to be implemented across the country’s geopolitical zones.
