Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho says members of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun, who were injured during an ambush in the Old Oyo National Park have recovered, while reaffirming his resolve to continue operations against criminal groups.

Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has confirmed that members of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun, who sustained injuries during an ambush in the Old Oyo National Park, have recovered. He also dismissed rumours about his wellbeing, saying he remains safe and committed to tackling criminal activities in the South-West.

Igboho gave the update in a video released on Sunday following the attack on members of the Iru Ekun outfit during an operation inside the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State.

The operatives had reportedly entered the forest to track suspected kidnappers and other armed criminals believed to be operating within the reserve. According to earlier reports, the team deployed surveillance drones before coming under heavy gunfire from suspected cross-border criminal groups, leading to a fierce exchange of fire in which several operatives were injured.

The latest update comes days after reports of the forest ambush raised fresh concerns over the activities of suspected kidnappers and armed groups operating in remote forest corridors across parts of the South-West. The incident occurred during what was described as an operation aimed at disrupting criminal hideouts inside the Old Oyo National Park.

In the video, Igboho said: “Those who sustained injuries are now okay. We will not rest until we ensure that those disturbing the peace of our land depart.” He also assured supporters that he was safe despite rumours circulating after the incident and reaffirmed his determination to continue operations against criminal elements.

With the injured operatives reported to have recovered, Igboho said the Iru Ekun outfit would continue its efforts against suspected kidnappers and other criminal groups operating in the region as security concerns persist in parts of the South-West.
