Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has selected former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Lawal Musa Daura, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Makinde announced Daura’s selection during the APM’s national convention in Bauchi State on Thursday.
Daura served as Director-General of the SSS from 2015 to 2018 and brings extensive experience in Nigeria’s security and intelligence sector to the ticket.
Makinde said the choice was informed by the need to strengthen the ticket’s capacity to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
The selection comes as political parties and prospective presidential candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Makinde recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the APM and has begun positioning his political platform ahead of the election.
The choice of a former intelligence chief as his running mate is expected to make security a major component of the ticket’s campaign message.
