According to INEC, the access codes were issued to the authorised national officers of the affected political parties, who are responsible for submitting candidates’ biodata and other required nomination documents through the commission’s online portal.
The parties granted access include the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and five other registered political parties that successfully concluded their nomination processes within the commission’s timetable. INEC said deadlines for submissions would be strictly enforced.
The release of the access codes marks the formal commencement of the candidate nomination phase ahead of the 2027 general election. In recent days, political parties have faced internal disputes and allegations over the outcome of some primaries, making the upload process a closely watched stage of the electoral calendar.
INEC advised political parties to ensure that only duly authorised officials handle the upload process and urged parties to comply fully with all nomination requirements within the stipulated timelines. The commission also reminded parties that only candidates who emerged through valid party primaries are eligible for submission through the nomination portal.
With the access codes now issued, attention shifts to the submission of candidates’ details as political parties move into another critical stage of preparations for the 2027 general elections. INEC has maintained that the nomination process will proceed strictly according to the approved electoral timetable.
