The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that it has successfully uploaded the name of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal after receiving access to the platform.
The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has announced that the party has uploaded the name of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal. The development follows INEC’s issuance of candidate upload access codes to eligible political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson disclosed that the upload was completed after the commission granted the NDC access to the nomination portal. He described the development as an important administrative step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
According to him, the submission demonstrates the party’s determination to participate fully in the electoral process despite the ongoing legal challenge to its registration.
The announcement came shortly after the NDC filed a notice of appeal and a motion for stay of execution against a Federal High Court judgment that nullified an earlier order directing INEC to register the party.
Despite the pending litigation, party leaders have maintained that they will continue complying with INEC’s electoral timetable while pursuing available legal remedies.
Dickson urged party members and supporters to remain calm, stating that the NDC would continue to pursue its appeal while participating in every stage of the electoral process permitted under the law.
He said the successful upload of Peter Obi’s nomination reflects the party’s commitment to the 2027 election and its confidence in the judicial process.
The upload of Peter Obi’s name marks another milestone in the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 general election as the party simultaneously pursues its appeal against the court ruling affecting its registration. INEC is expected to continue processing candidate nominations in accordance with the approved electoral timetable.
