The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has given Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi 72 hours to withdraw allegations linking him to murder, bribery, corruption and other criminal conduct or face a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit alongside possible criminal proceedings. The demand was conveyed through his solicitors, Pinheiro LP.
Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has initiated legal action against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, demanding an immediate retraction and public apology over allegations he described as false, malicious and defamatory.
The move follows a widely circulated press conference in which Adeyemi made several allegations against the presidential aide concerning the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
In a cease-and-desist letter dated July 6, 2026, signed by Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) on behalf of Pinheiro LP, Gbajabiamila’s legal team demanded that Adeyemi:
- Retract all allegedly defamatory statements within 72 hours.
- Publish a public apology in national newspapers and across digital platforms.
- Remove all videos, transcripts and publications containing the allegations.
- Provide a written undertaking not to repeat the claims.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply would result in a ₦10 billion civil defamation suit as well as additional legal action.
The legal dispute stems from allegations made by Adeyemi during a press conference concerning the PFIPC, an organisation the Presidency has repeatedly described as non-existent.
Adeyemi had accused Gbajabiamila of demanding part of an alleged take-off grant, receiving money through proxies and engaging in other criminal acts. The Presidency has denied those claims and maintains that Adeyemi is already facing criminal charges over alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences connected to the purported agency.
Gbajabiamila’s lawyers described the allegations as entirely false and capable of seriously damaging his reputation, which they said had been built over decades of public service.
The legal team warned that if Adeyemi fails to comply with the demands within the stipulated period, court proceedings will commence without further notice.
The latest development further escalates the PFIPC controversy, which has generated widespread political and legal attention in recent weeks. With both criminal proceedings against Adeyemi and the threatened defamation action now unfolding, the dispute appears set for another phase in the courts unless an out-of-court resolution is reached.
