President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed former Sokoto State governorship candidate Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his return as a boost for the party and urging members to remain united ahead of the 2027 general election.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally received former Sokoto State governorship candidate Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma following his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on party members to embrace unity and work collectively to strengthen the ruling party.

Tinubu received Ubandoma during a meeting attended by key APC leaders, describing his return as a positive development for the party’s growing support base in Sokoto State and the North-West.

Ubandoma recently defected to the APC after leaving the opposition, a move that has generated political attention in Sokoto State ahead of the 2027 elections.

During the meeting, Tinubu congratulated the former governorship candidate on his decision to rejoin the ruling party and urged him to work closely with other party stakeholders in promoting unity and stability.

The President stressed that the APC remains committed to accommodating returning members and strengthening internal cohesion as preparations gradually begin for future elections.

Ubandoma was presented to the President by APC leader in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, alongside other party leaders.

His return comes amid a series of political realignments across the country, with several politicians changing party affiliations as consultations ahead of the 2027 general election intensify.

Political observers view such defections as part of broader efforts by major parties to consolidate support in key states before campaign activities officially commence.

President Tinubu encouraged APC members in Sokoto State to set aside differences and focus on building a stronger and more united party.

He reiterated that unity, discipline and cooperation remain essential for sustaining the party’s electoral success and delivering good governance to Nigerians.

Ubandoma’s return adds to the wave of political movements ahead of the 2027 elections, underscoring the growing competition among Nigeria’s major political parties. As consultations and alignments continue nationwide, party leaders are expected to intensify efforts to strengthen their structures and expand grassroots support across the country.
