The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League enters a new stage on Thursday, August 27, with the league-phase draw set to determine the opening fixtures of Europe’s elite club competition.
The draw will take place in Monaco from 6pm CET, with 36 clubs divided into four pots based on their UEFA club coefficients.
Each club will face eight different opponents during the league phase — two from each of the four pots, with four matches played at home and four away.
Teams cannot face another club from the same domestic league during the league phase.
Pot 1
Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Pot 2
Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting CP, Aston Villa, Porto, Manchester United, Club Brugge, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven.
Pot 3
Feyenoord, Lille, Bodø/Glimt, Napoli, RB Leipzig, Villarreal, Fenerbahçe, Shakhtar Donetsk and Galatasaray.
Pot 4
Slavia Prague, Slovan Bratislava, Stuttgart, AEK Athens, LASK, Como, Lens and Viking, alongside Sabah.
The league phase is scheduled to begin between September 8 and 10, 2026, with the final matchday scheduled for January 27, 2027.
The top eight teams at the end of the league phase will qualify directly for the Round of 16, while teams finishing ninth to 24th will enter the knockout-phase play-offs.
The knockout play-offs are scheduled for February 2027, followed by the Round of 16 in March, quarter-finals in April and semi-finals in April and May.
The 2027 Champions League final is scheduled for June 5, 2027, at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain.
