Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly presented himself as the Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force after the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant over his repeated failure to appear for arraignment on charges bordering on forgery, impersonation and fraud.

The long-running controversy surrounding the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has taken a fresh turn following the arrest of its self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

Police operatives apprehended Adeyemi shortly after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his arrest for failing to appear before the court to answer criminal charges filed against him.

Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court reportedly issued a bench warrant after Adeyemi failed to appear in court despite several adjournments granted at his request.

The prosecution informed the court that the defendant had repeatedly failed to honour court proceedings, prompting the request for a warrant under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

Adeyemi is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, impersonation, obtaining by false pretence and related offences.

Investigators allege that he forged documents purportedly issued by the Presidency, falsely presented himself as the head of the PFIPC and used the alleged appointment to interact with government institutions and foreign diplomats. Adeyemi has denied wrongdoing.

Following the court order, police officers reportedly arrested Adeyemi at a hideout in Osun State before moving him into custody for further legal proceedings.

Authorities say he will now be produced before the Federal High Court to face arraignment on the pending criminal charges.

The arrest marks another major development in the PFIPC scandal that has generated nationwide attention in recent weeks. The case is expected to return before the Federal High Court as prosecutors seek to proceed with Adeyemi’s arraignment.
