The Kebbi State Government has rejected allegations that some communities have been abandoned to bandits and terrorists, describing the claims as misleading, inaccurate and politically motivated, while insisting that Governor Nasir Idris remains actively involved in tackling insecurity across the state.
The Kebbi State Government has denied reports suggesting that communities affected by insecurity have been left at the mercy of armed bandits and terrorists.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, the government said the allegations being circulated by opposition figures create a false impression of the state’s security situation and do not reflect ongoing efforts to protect lives and property.
Government Says Security Operations Can’t Be Publicised
According to the state government, security operations involve intelligence gathering and strategic planning that cannot always be disclosed to the public.
It stressed that the absence of public announcements on certain operations should not be interpreted as government inaction.
The statement added that Governor Nasir Idris continues to work closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to address security challenges across Kebbi State.
‘Governor Remains Fully Committed’
The government reaffirmed that safeguarding lives and property remains one of its highest priorities.
It said ongoing operations are aimed at restoring peace, allowing residents to go about their daily activities safely and enabling farmers to return to their farmlands without fear of attacks.
Appeal Against Politicising Insecurity
The state also urged political actors to avoid using insecurity as a tool for political attacks.
According to the statement, combating banditry requires cooperation, intelligence sharing and confidentiality rather than public speculation that could undermine ongoing security efforts.
