The Allied People’s Movement (APM) says Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has emerged as a credible alternative to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, citing his record in office and growing national support.
The Allied People’s Movement has declared that Nigerians are increasingly rallying behind its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, describing him as the country’s most credible alternative to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, said ongoing cross-party consultations were yielding positive results and positioning the APM as a major opposition force ahead of the polls.
‘Makinde Is the Rallying Point’
According to Yusuf, Makinde’s performance as governor has earned him nationwide acceptance, particularly among young Nigerians seeking accountable leadership.
He said the party was committed to building a formidable opposition coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
“Governor Makinde has already become the rallying point for Nigerians… Nigerians have accepted him as the credible alternative to President Tinubu,” Yusuf said.
APM Cites Growing Support
The party also claimed that more Nigerians are identifying with the APM following Makinde’s emergence as its presidential candidate.
According to the party, supporters from different political backgrounds have continued to express interest in mobilising for the governor’s presidential ambition ahead of the next general election.
Political Claim, Not Independent Assessment
The APM’s position reflects the party’s political assessment and campaign message. It has not been independently verified through nationwide polling or official electoral data.
