The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to nullify the emergence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Kebbi State.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has thrown out a legal challenge against the candidacy of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), clearing the way for him to remain the ADC governorship candidate in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Justice M. G. Umar dismissed the suit after holding that the plaintiff failed to establish the legal basis required to challenge Malami’s emergence as the party’s flag bearer.
Court Finds Plaintiff Lacked Evidence
The suit was filed by Abdulrazak Isa Iko, who asked the court to disqualify Malami as the ADC candidate.
However, the court ruled that the plaintiff failed to prove that he participated in the party’s governorship primary, a requirement necessary to sustain the action under the Electoral Act. Consequently, the case was dismissed in its entirety.
Malami Retains ADC Ticket
With the judgment, Malami remains the duly recognised ADC governorship candidate for Kebbi State.
The ruling comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with candidates seeking to resolve pre-election disputes before campaign activities gather momentum.
