Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has named Jerry Adams, Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a reflection of his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice and unity.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has officially unveiled Jerry Adams as his deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election, ending weeks of speculation over who would replace the outgoing Deputy Governor, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.

In a statement announcing the nomination, the governor said the choice followed extensive consultations, reflection and prayers, adding that it was intended to reinforce his administration’s values of fairness, equity and inclusive governance.

Faith-Balanced Ticket

Jerry Adams, a Christian and the Executive Chairman of KADIRS, had been widely reported as one of the leading contenders for the position in recent weeks.

Political observers had viewed the expected nomination as a return to a faith-balanced governorship ticket in Kaduna after the state’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023 generated widespread debate.

Governor Explains Decision

According to Governor Uba Sani, Kaduna’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths and should be reflected in leadership.

He said the nomination was not merely about selecting a deputy but reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring every citizen feels represented regardless of religion, ethnicity or geography.

The governor also urged residents to view the decision as part of a broader vision of unity and peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political Significance

The announcement comes as political parties conclude the process of submitting governorship candidates and running mates to INEC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Analysts say the decision could strengthen the APC’s appeal in Southern Kaduna, where calls for a Christian running mate had intensified in recent months.
