Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has intensified his clash with Peter Obi, accusing the former Anambra State governor of deliberately misleading Nigerians over his claim that he was politically harassed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Keyamo dismissed Obi’s account of the airport incident, insisting that CCTV footage and official findings contradicted the opposition politician’s allegations.
‘He Lies Like Fish Drinks Water’
In one of his strongest attacks yet, the minister accused Obi of repeatedly making false claims, saying the former presidential candidate “lies like a fish drinking water.”
According to Keyamo, Obi falsely portrayed airport officials as persecuting him because of his opposition status, despite evidence suggesting otherwise.
Keyamo Questions Obi’s Airport Claims
The minister argued that Obi publicly accused airport authorities of political harassment before allowing the Aviation Ministry to verify the incident.
He also questioned why the allegation was not challenged during Obi’s earlier television interview, maintaining that fairness required both sides of the story to be heard.
Airport Dispute Deepens
The latest exchange follows an earlier dispute over Obi’s claim that his vehicle was unjustly clamped at the Abuja airport.
Keyamo had previously said an internal investigation and CCTV footage showed the vehicle was parked in violation of airport regulations and that officials were unaware it belonged to Obi when enforcement action was taken.
The minister has also demanded a public apology to airport workers and payment of the prescribed parking fine, warning that further action could follow if the demands are ignored.
