Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the controversy surrounding the President’s academic credentials submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Amaechi said his own educational history could be independently verified by former classmates and schoolmates, while questioning whether Tinubu could similarly provide people who could attest to his own educational background.

The former Rivers State governor made the remarks amid renewed political debate over Tinubu’s educational credentials ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The controversy followed the publication of nomination documents submitted to INEC by presidential candidates and political parties.
Several opposition figures have questioned aspects of Tinubu’s academic history, while the Presidency and its supporters have defended the President’s credentials.
‘My classmates can verify my education’
Amaechi said people who attended school with him could verify his educational history.
He used the point to challenge Tinubu to provide similar clarity about his educational background.
The ADC chieftain’s comments add to a growing political debate over the credentials of candidates ahead of the 2027 election.
