Suspected bandits have abducted Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court after invading his residence in Bunza Local Government Area during a midnight attack, prompting a major security operation to secure his release.
A Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been kidnapped by armed bandits following a brazen overnight attack on his residence along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area.
According to reports, the judge had only recently returned from a trip to Sokoto State when the gunmen stormed his home around midnight and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
Police Confirm Abduction
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident, with spokesperson SP Bashir Usman stating that Justice Bunza was abducted from his residence during the overnight raid.
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, immediately deployed tactical and intelligence teams to track the kidnappers and rescue the judge unharmed.
Security Agencies Launch Rescue Operation
Following the attack, security agencies commenced coordinated search operations across the area as efforts intensified to locate the abductors.
Authorities have not yet announced any arrests or established contact with the kidnappers, while investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
Fresh Concern Over Insecurity
The abduction has heightened concerns over worsening insecurity in parts of northwestern Nigeria, where kidnappings involving public officials, traditional rulers and residents have continued despite ongoing military and police operations.
