The Federal Government has announced the full payment of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance to academic staff in federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education for the period covering January to August 2026.
The payment forms part of the government’s efforts to address welfare concerns affecting academic staff across federal tertiary institutions.
The allowance is expected to provide additional support to lecturers and other academic personnel while strengthening the government’s engagement with workers in the education sector.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts to improve conditions within Nigeria’s tertiary education system and reduce tensions between government and academic unions.
The Federal Government has continued to emphasise reforms aimed at improving the quality of education, strengthening institutions and creating a more sustainable environment for teaching and learning.
