The cleric criticised the First Lady while reacting to the continued captivity of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, over her response to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
In remarks made publicly, the cleric accused the First Lady of failing to act in a manner he described as motherly following the kidnapping incident.
“Remi Tinubu, you did not behave like a mother at all,” Primate Ayodele said while expressing displeasure over the situation.
He further criticised the First Lady for allegedly focusing on distributing vehicles to APC women leaders while the abducted pupils and teachers remained in captivity.
According to him, stronger public intervention and visible concern should have accompanied the response to the abduction crisis.
The comments come as concern continues to grow over the fate of the victims kidnapped from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Primate Ayodele also warned that political consequences could follow if issues surrounding insecurity and public perception are not handled carefully.
“I know you don’t like me, but I will tell you the truth,” he added during the criticism directed at the First Lady.
There was no immediate official response from the office of the First Lady regarding the remarks at the time the comments circulated publicly.
