Sporting, Akwa, Remo, and Lobi are all competing for the coveted final spots in the Naija Super 8 tournament.

The Naija Super 8 tournament will feature an exciting first semi-final between wildcard entrants Sporting Lagos and Akwa United, while Lobi Stars and Remo Stars will go head-to-head in the second semi-final at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Friday.

Sporting secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Katsina United 1-0 in the crucial Group A match on Thursday, finishing at the top of the group with seven points. This victory sets up an intense encounter with Akwa, who finished second in Group B with six points.

Sporting’s triumph over Katsina also ensured Remo’s progression to the semi-finals. Remo advanced ahead of Katsina due to their superior goal difference in the group stage. Both teams concluded their group campaigns with four points and a goal difference of 0. However, Remo had the advantage with four goals scored and conceded, while Katsina scored three goals and conceded three.

The four teams that were eliminated in the group stage received a consolation prize of N9 million each, while the remaining four semi-finalists will compete for the prestigious grand prize of N25 million.

The highly anticipated tournament final will be held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday.

The Naija Super 8 tournament is organized by Flykite Productions in collaboration with MultiChoice Nigeria, along with the support of sponsors including MTN, Hero Lager, DStv, GOtv, SuperSport, Moniepoint, Pepsi, and Custodian Assurance.
