Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, and the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, are leading a high-powered delegation to Osun State ahead of the party’s grand finale campaign rally.
The delegation’s movement to Osogbo comes just days before the August 15 governorship election, as political parties intensify their final mobilisation efforts across the state.
The ADC has been positioning itself as a major opposition platform ahead of the election, with the party’s national leadership expected to use the grand finale rally to rally support for its candidate and strengthen its presence in the state.
Atiku and Mark’s presence also highlights the importance the party has attached to the Osun contest as it seeks to expand its political footprint beyond the 2027 presidential contest.
Reports indicate that other prominent party leaders are also part of the delegation travelling to Osun for the final campaign event.
The visit comes against the backdrop of an increasingly competitive Osun political environment, with the major political parties stepping up their final appeals to voters ahead of Saturday’s poll.
The ADC’s campaign finale is expected to provide the party with an opportunity to present its final message to voters and mobilise supporters ahead of election day.
With the election drawing closer, attention has increasingly shifted from campaign promises to voter mobilisation, election security and the ability of each political structure to translate its support into votes at the polling units.
