PDP chieftain Lere Olayinka says Tinubu’s political alliances and governance record have strengthened his position ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Lere Olayinka has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will face an easier presidential election in 2027 than he did in 2023.
Olayinka, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, made the assessment during an appearance on TVC Breakfast on Monday.
Olayinka Cites Political Alliances
According to Olayinka, Tinubu’s ability to attract influential politicians from across the political divide has weakened the opposition’s capacity to mount a united challenge.
He specifically cited Wike, who remains a PDP member but has continued to serve in the Tinubu administration.
Olayinka argued that Wike could have played a major role in mobilising support for the PDP had he remained firmly opposed to Tinubu.
Opposition Remains Divided
Olayinka also pointed to the different political directions being taken by opposition figures.
He cited Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as examples of politicians whose political alignments could contribute to a fragmented opposition landscape.
His argument is that Tinubu’s cross-party relationships could make it more difficult for rival parties to consolidate their supporters behind one presidential candidate.
‘One-Way Election’
Olayinka described the 2027 election as potentially a “one-way election”, citing what he considers Tinubu’s performance in national development and political strategy.
He also said the President’s willingness to work with politicians across party lines had made politics easier for his administration.
Political Prediction, Not Election Result
Olayinka’s assessment is a political prediction and does not establish the eventual outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
The poll remains more than a year away, with opposition parties still negotiating alliances and candidates while the ruling APC continues preparations for the contest.
