Imo elder urges Igbo voters to avoid ethnic sentiment and back President Tinubu’s second-term ambition in 2027.

Business mogul and member of the Imo State Council of Elders, Chief Marcillinus Nlemigbo, has called on leaders and eligible voters in the South-East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Nlemigbo said Igbos should put aside ethnic and tribal considerations when deciding who to support at the polls, insisting that national interest must take priority.

The elder statesman acknowledged that Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, remains one of the prominent politicians from the Igbo extraction and is qualified for leadership.

However, he advised voters in the region to rally behind Tinubu for a second term instead of allowing ethnic sentiments to influence their political decisions.

His comments come amid growing political conversations and early alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several political blocs already positioning for possible presidential contests.
