The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old newlywed woman, Aisha Musa, over an alleged attempt to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred barely 40 days after the couple got married.
According to reports, the woman is alleged to have mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 12, in Gwamma Village, according to reports citing police authorities.
The husband reportedly became ill after consuming the meal, prompting the matter to be brought to the attention of the police.
The Bauchi State Police Command subsequently arrested Musa in connection with the alleged incident.
Police authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including what substance was allegedly added to the food and the events leading to the husband’s illness.
The case has attracted public attention because of the woman’s age and the fact that the incident reportedly occurred only about six weeks into the marriage.
