Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that soldiers are attempting to prevent him from entering Osun State as voters head to the polls for Saturday’s governorship election.
Davido raised the allegation in a post on his verified X account early Saturday, August 15, 2026, as voting commenced across the state.
The singer said he had been informed that soldiers were trying to stop him from entering Osun, insisting that he would not allow the alleged action to prevent him from exercising his rights.
“I’ve been reliably informed that soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time.”
Davido’s allegation comes amid heightened security arrangements across Osun State for the governorship election.
The Nigeria Police Force had announced restrictions on movement across the state from midnight on Friday, August 14, until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, as part of measures to secure the election.
The singer did not provide details of the soldiers allegedly attempting to stop him or explain the circumstances surrounding the alleged attempt.
The development has generated reactions online, with the issue becoming part of the wider conversation around security and movement restrictions during the election.
Meanwhile, accreditation and voting have commenced across Osun State, with security personnel deployed in different parts of the state.
