Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence in his victory in the ongoing Osun State governorship election after casting his ballot in Ede.
Adeleke voted at his polling unit in Ede on Saturday as voters across the state turned out to participate in the election.
Speaking after voting, the governor expressed optimism that the election would be conducted peacefully and said he remained confident of emerging victorious.
Adeleke’s confidence comes amid a closely watched contest involving the incumbent and his major challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
The governor had spent the final days of the campaign accusing the APC and its allies of attempting to use federal influence to undermine his re-election bid.
He has, however, maintained that the people of Osun would ultimately determine the outcome of the election through their votes.
The election is being closely monitored as voters across the state’s 30 local government areas exercise their franchise.
Reports from various polling locations indicate that voting commenced in several areas with voters turning out to cast their ballots.
Adeleke’s declaration of confidence adds another layer to the tense political contest, with both major camps projecting victory.
The final outcome will depend on the votes cast across the state and the subsequent collation and declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
