Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome of the election as a victory for democracy.
Tambuwal said Adeleke’s renewed mandate demonstrated the power of voters to determine who leads them through the ballot.
The former governor made the remarks in a congratulatory message following Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 Osun governorship election.
Adeleke was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), securing 511,067 votes.
His closest challenger, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes, while ADC candidate Najeem Salaam recorded 17,180 votes.
Tambuwal said the election result represented more than a personal victory for Adeleke, describing it as a victory for the people of Osun State.
He also commended voters for exercising their constitutional right to choose their preferred candidate.
The congratulatory message comes as political reactions continue to trail Adeleke’s re-election.
While several political figures have congratulated the governor, the APC has said it is reviewing the election results and considering available legal options.
Adeleke is now set to begin another term in office after securing a second mandate from Osun voters.
