Cameroon have made history by winning the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time.

The Indomitable Lionesses defeated Malawi 3-0 in the final played in Rabat, Morocco, to secure their maiden continental title.

Marie Ngah was instrumental in the victory, scoring twice, while Naomi Ndjoah Eto added another goal as Cameroon produced a commanding performance in the final.

The triumph ends Cameroon’s wait for a first WAFCON crown after previous attempts to win the competition had fallen short.

Cameroon controlled the final and established a comfortable advantage before completing a historic victory over Malawi.

For Malawi, reaching the final itself represented a remarkable achievement, while the defeat denied the team its first African title.

Cameroon’s victory now places the Indomitable Lionesses among the continent’s champions and marks a major milestone in the history of women’s football in the country.
